International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

6 February 2026 IPDO Reaffirms Its Commitment to Protecting the Rights and Dignity of Girls and Women.

Iniskoy for Peace and Development Organization (IPDO) proudly joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a day dedicated to raising awareness and accelerating action to end one of the most harmful practices affecting girls and women worldwide.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a severe violation of human rights and a form of gender-based violence that causes irreversible physical, psychological, and emotional harm. It deprives girls of their fundamental rights to health, safety, dignity, and bodily integrity. Despite global efforts, millions of girls remain at risk, particularly in vulnerable and marginalized communities.

IPDO firmly believes that FGM has no place in any society. It is not supported by religion, it undermines human dignity, and it poses serious lifelong health consequences, including chronic pain, complications during childbirth, infections, and psychological trauma. Ending FGM is not only a human rights obligation, it is a moral and social responsibility shared by all.

Through its peacebuilding, human rights, and community development initiatives, IPDO works closely with communities to challenge harmful social norms and promote positive change. The organization emphasizes community-led dialogue, awareness-raising campaigns, women and youth empowerment, and collaboration with traditional and religious leaders as key strategies to eliminate FGM.

IPDO recognizes that sustainable change can only be achieved when communities are informed, empowered, and actively involved. Educating parents, supporting survivors, amplifying the voices of women and girls, and engaging men and boys are essential steps toward ending this harmful practice.

On this important day, IPDO calls upon government institutions, civil society organizations, community leaders, development partners, and all members of society to strengthen their commitment to ending Female Genital Mutilation. Laws must be enforced, awareness must be expanded, and protective mechanisms must be strengthened to ensure that every girl grows up free from violence and fear.

Protecting girls from FGM is an investment in healthier families, stronger communities, and a more just and peaceful future. When girls are protected, educated, and empowered, they become agents of positive change and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and peace.

As we commemorate the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, IPDO reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting human rights, gender equality, and social justice. Together, through collective action and shared responsibility, we can end Female Genital Mutilation and ensure a future where the rights and dignity of all girls and women are fully respected.

Zero Tolerance for FGM—Today, Tomorrow, and Always.
