International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026

International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026

Breaking Barriers, Building Futures

Every year on February 11, the world celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role women and girls play in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In 2026, under the powerful theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures,” As IPDO reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality in science and innovation.
Despite significant progress, women and girls around the world continue to face barriers that limit their full participation in scientific fields. These barriers include limited access to quality education, gender stereotypes, unequal opportunities, and underrepresentation in leadership and research roles. Breaking these barriers is not only a matter of fairness. it is essential for global development, innovation, and sustainable progress.
When girls are encouraged to explore science from an early age, they develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and the courage to pursue careers once considered out of reach. When women are supported in research, leadership, and technological innovation, societies benefit from diverse perspectives that drive creativity and problem-solving.
“Building Futures” means investing in education, mentorship, and inclusive policies that empower girls and women to thrive in STEM. It means creating safe learning environments, supporting female role models, and ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities. It also means challenging harmful norms and inspiring communities to believe in the limitless potential of their daughters.
As Iniskoy for Peace and Development Organization IPDO commemorate this important day, we call on governments, institutions, civil society organizations, and communities to work together in promoting gender equality in science. By supporting women and girls today, we are building stronger, more innovative, and more resilient societies for tomorrow.
Together, we can break barriers. Together, we can build future.
