On 24 January 2026, Iniskoy for Peace and Development Organization (IPDO), with the generous support of SIHA Network, successfully conducted a Gender Equality and Women’s Rights Awareness Campaign in Baidoa, Southwest State of Somalia.
The campaign aimed to strengthen community understanding of women’s and girls’ human rights and to promote inclusive and meaningful participation of women in society. Community members, women leaders, youth, and local stakeholders actively participated in the discussions.
Key issues addressed during the campaign included:

The Right to Education for girls and women

The Right to Marriage, with a strong focus on ending child and forced marriage

Women’s Participation in Decision-Making at family and community levels

Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and the importance of inclusion and accessibility
Through open dialogue and awareness-raising sessions, the activity sought to empower women and girls, challenge harmful social norms, and encourage collective responsibility in promoting gender equality and human rights.
IPDO, together with SIHA Network, reaffirms its commitment to advocating for equality, dignity, and justice for all women and girls, and to working with communities to build a more inclusive and rights-respecting society.
